A Passion for the Industry

Jody and Chris Hatch brought their first herd to Salmon River 15 years ago, and immediately fell in love with the alpaca lifestyle – the clean air and open space, freedom to be their own boss, ability to spend more time with their children, and, of course, time spent caring for their alpacas.

Over the years, their farm has flourished and grown, and today they’re championing a sense of community among alpaca farmers. Whether you’re a seasoned alpaca farmer or just getting started, their services are here for you!

Their primary mission: serve as connectors and solve problems for fellow alpaca farmers.

Accomplishments include:

  • Dispersal management sales for herds ranging from a few alpacas to over 200 alpacas in size
  • Provision of herd evaluations, market analysis, marketing, negotiations, and emotional support during the transition of closing a farm
  • 800 -1000 alpacas shorn per season (April-July)
  • 1st place in Journeyman Class and 2nd place in Master Class National Shearing Contest, 2016

The Hatches are passionate about helping all alpaca farmers make their farms profitable and sustainable. Now, it’s their mission to make connections and solve problems for other alpaca farmers, so the alpaca farming community can continue to grow. Whether you need shearing services or consulting services, they are here to help you make your farm as profitable and sustainable as possible. See more of what the alpaca lifestyle means to them through these scenes from their farm. The opportunities for their children to learn on the farm, the fresh air and work outdoors, their beautiful alpacas, and the everyday adventures of being part of a growing industry – we love it all!
